Chapter 1269 - 1268: Showing Off Their Love Like Their Lives Depend on It
Leah made a charity donation and, not in the mood to mingle with people she didn’t know, left early with Richard Shaw.
As they exited Constantine Stewart’s private villa, a cold breeze hit, causing Leah to shiver.
The man took off his coat, his face a bit gloomy, and thoroughly covered her exposed bare arms, pulling her entirely into his embrace, warding off the unwanted gazes from other men.
The suit jacket still held the warmth of the man’s body, along with a woody scent, instantly making Leah feel cozy. She noticed Richard Shaw’s sullen face and, tugging quietly at his sleeve, playfully asked, "Didn’t I tell you to stay at home? With you here, I’ve lost the fun of teasing them."
When it came to dealing with the Winton sisters, she had a hundred tricks up her sleeve, having grown up tackling them and being quite familiar.
The man originally meant to ignore her for ten minutes, at least five, seeing her attire—off-shoulder and low-cut—the men around were practically drooling. Richard Shaw felt it unfair; every inch of his wife, every strand of her hair was his, and how could he let those scoundrels take advantage of it?
But listening to her soft, slightly coquettish voice, pulling at his sleeve in such a cute manner, the man’s expression brightened a bit, and he said in a low voice, "You can tease me."
What? Leah suspected she was hearing things, but the man, discontented with her slow pace in high heels, picked her up and strode towards his Hummer.
With people coming and going all around, the reception staff standing by the entrance, even if they got in the car and stayed there, anyone could guess what was happening with the slightest imagination. Leah thought about it and felt a bit hot in the face.
Richard Shaw held her soft hand, bringing light back into the situation as he gruffly responded, then switched to the driver’s seat, his eyes tinged with red as he drove towards the hotel.
Leah couldn’t quite see his expression, lazing in the back seat, she said lazily, "I need to head back to the South Sea tomorrow, or my brother will definitely come after me."
The man didn’t respond, just squinting his eyes deeply; there was no way she would make it to the South Sea tomorrow.
"Richard, cat got your tongue?" Leah asked while taking out her phone to question Lana and Calliope Shaw about any romantic encounters at the banquet.
"I’m driving," the man replied in a deep voice, slightly hoarse from restraint, keeping a speed between 120-150, quite fast. Fortunately, Constantine Stewart’s villa was in the downtown area, not the suburbs, otherwise, it would take two hours just to reach the hotel she’d stayed at before.
It was all prime real estate in the old city area, very close, just half an hour drive.
Lana and Calliope Shaw had no romantic encounters whatsoever, only questions about Richard Shaw or her, the two young women lamented.
Leah chuckled lightly, then idly scrolled through her Weibo, only to discover that the trolls and haters had vanished, and any negative comments were completely wiped away, as if nothing had happened, leaving no trace.
"Richard, was the Weibo thing your doing?" Leah asked without raising her head, then went to check Delphine’s Weibo. While the comments under Delphine’s posts remained untouched, Ignatius Leclair had posted a message, stating that all comments slandering his wife would be met with legal action from his team of lawyers.
Ignatius Leclair’s Weibo verification stated he was the former CEO of Qingshi Group, followed by titles like Actress and new director, and husband of Qingshi Group CEO Delphine Carter. Leah looked at such a shamelessly affectionate Weibo verification, feeling like her outlook on life was once again overturned by Ignatius Leclair.
Truly flaunting affection with all his might! So shameless!
