Chapter 190: Arc Conclusion Part 5
Chapter 190: Arc Conclusion Part 5
Jason, Glenn and Rachel were ready to head back, they knew that they had done all they needed to do here. Jason thought about investigating the shed but what he didn’t know couldn’t harm him.
They had their way to survive and so did they. After all, Jason was the last person to judge considering he eats fragments straight out of zombies so in a sense, he too was a cannibal.
"Chronos, show me my infection rate," Jason commanded his newly revived system.
[[Infection: 9%]]
It increased but why? This was a question he wanted to ask Chronos but something told him he already knew the answer to this besides, Andre was approaching him.
Andre wanted to show his gratitude for saving their lives, so he handed Jason something he had gotten from the store they had just raided.
It was a sword, Jason was confused as to where he got this from but there was no doubt that a sword would be useful right now.
"Andre is a tad bit awkward if you haven’t noticed but that sword represents knighthood. This is for saving our lives, you’re our knight," Brayden said to which Andre looked away, clearly embarrassed.
Jason snickered upon seeing this, he was surprised that Andre had this side to him.
He was a lot more human with the mask removed than he was on, Jason accepted his gift even though what Brayden said was the corniest thing he had ever heard.
They were ready to go and Shantel came out of the tent, expecting to leave with them.
Glenn saw her and quickly averted his gaze, Jason was at the helm of the car so he expected Jason to drive off yet Jason waited.
This camp was no prison, they could leave whenever they wanted and they had lost some people this way.
"Jason...?" Glenn muttered but Jason didn’t give a verbal response to his friend calling him.
Andre wanted to see what was happening, he didn’t know that Jason had such business with her but he could see why Shantel would be taken by him.
He was the bravest man he had seen in a very long time, he didn’t know if he was insane or courageous.
Shantel opened the door and got in, Clementine didn’t seem bothered by her presence as she was warming up to her already.
Clementine was the woman she aspired to be, a woman who could fight for herself and survive.
A woman who earned the respect of Andre and the rest of the men in the camp.
Glenn didn’t know what Jason was thinking but knowing Jason, he must have had a plan.
This was the sole reason that Glenn respected his decision, he knew that if he pressed on, he might spook Shantel.
Shantel was hot, there was no doubt about that as she had an ass only a dark-skinned girl could possess.
Jason waved them goodbye before driving away, the car was working alright thankfully.
They had enough gas to take them home and that was if nothing interrupted their travel.
Jason checked the radio, it was all static but it was working, Jason played around with it.
"What are you doing? Focus on the road!" Clementine warned him but then a song began playing.
This was the first time that they had heard a song since the world went to shit.
However, Clementine didn’t know what song was playing neither did Glenn or Shantel.
But Jason began humming the words of the song and nodding his head in rhythm.
There was no way that Jason could know this song, he didn’t seem like the type to know old-school songs.
<
This song triggered happy memories for him and the way his voice resonated showed that these words held something deeper than just a song.
Clementine smiled, she kept her mouth shut as she wanted Jason to enjoy his moment.
She even tried singing along even though she butchered the lyrics, in no time everyone joined but Shantel.
Shantel didn’t know how to react to this but she felt warm inside watching this, it made her feel good about her choice.
At this rate, they should make it back before the day ends.

The community had seen major progress, Franklin returned with even more goods; which meant that they had even more food.
Franklin took a huge risk but it paid off even though the cost was far too heavy a price to pay.
Rachel was busy in the hospital, unaware of Franklin’s arrival because she had other things to worry about.
Rachel stayed beside Lillain, she didn’t leave the room or move an inch from her sister even though this was probably the most protected place.
Lillian could have easily been killed and Rachel knew if her sister died, she would lose her very purpose of living.
She got carried away and forgot why she was doing all this in the first place.
Mathias understood this and allowed her to carry out this task, she was family after all.
Rachel held her sister’s hand and began to pray to God to save her.
Even though Mathias told her that everything would be okay, it was just a concussion but what if the person came back to finish the job?
She saw her scars and was reminded of her inability to save her in the past but it looks like nothing had changed.
Once again, Lillian found herself here because Rachel couldn’t protect her.
This ate away at Rachel, she felt immense guilt but that guilt was coupled with rage.
She wanted to find who did this and kill them with her bare hands but before she could drown in her thoughts.
She noticed the door spring open and immediately took a defensive stance only to see Josephine entering. Rachel quickly covered up her sister’s scars because she knew that this was something that Lillian would want to be covered and she had every intention of respecting it.
However, Rachel still didn’t let down her guard because she didn’t know who did this to her sister. There was no telling what could happen, she knew that there were threats that she was unaware of.
"Are you okay?" Josephine asked, her voice filled with concern.
Rachel thought that Mathias would have gotten rid of her by now yet here she was.
She was glad that he didn’t because Josephine was a decent person even though their first encounter was a dick-measuring contest.
"No.... No, I’m not," Rachel responded to which she just stood there awkwardly, not knowing what else to do.
"Someone touched my fucking sister," Rachel cussed out, veins popping from her head to show her anger.
Josephine didn’t know she could get this angry but Rachel right now was a dangerous woman.
Rachel began to feel bad for what she had done to Josephine, in a sense, she was no better than the people she condemned.
Willing to do anything that benefits her and she had to change this narrative.
"Do you want me to go or do you want me to stay with you?" Josephine asked.
She knew how fragile her mental state was and wanted to know exactly what she needed.
"I have to tell you something Josephine," Rachel muttered.
"What is it?" Josephine inched closer, thinking that Rachel was about to confide in her.
"I need you to know that I..." Rachel stopped herself from spilling the beans.
"I know what you did, Rachel and I understand. Consider us even now," Josephine said.
Rachel felt the weight of guilt lift off her chest, Josephine truly was an amazing woman.
Lillian squirmed before her eyes slowly opened, she was in pain but she was awake.
Rachel lost her composure and rushed to her sister’s side.
Josephine didn’t know if she should stay or go but she chose to go as the sisters needed time together.
"Am I dead?" Lillian asked before looking at her older sister.
"You were never the funny sister," Rachel said with a joyful laugh.
"Are you alright?" Rachel questioned her sister, this was the most important part of her recovery- regaining consciousness.
"Oh my, I’m feeling so good. I wonder why I’m in a hospital," Lillian was being sarcastic and this gave Rachel her answer.
The event hadn’t affected Lillian as much as she had thought but then again, Lillian was a master at hiding her trauma.
This wouldn’t be Lillian’s first time tricking those around her.
"Lillian... You’re shaking..." Rachel commented, noticing her sister’s attempt to put on a brave face shatter with her trembling.
Lillian tried to give another cheeky excuse but Rachel understood that she was trying to carry the weight of what just happened and softly embraced her embraced her younger sister.
There was no way that this wouldn’t traumatize a young that that has already endured things she had no business experiencing.
The trembling became worse and then the tears came.
The silence was filled with Lillian sobbing in Rachel’s arms and Rachel sat there, not saying a single word.
